Matt’s passion for urban design and planning, and his commitment to community, have led to a diverse portfolio of architecture projects and numerous civic board positions. Upon graduating from Clemson University, he cultivated an interest in community planning while working on civic projects for the State of Florida and the City of Jacksonville. Relocating to Middle Tennessee in 1996, Matt continued to pursue responsible design and explore smart planning projects. He also gave time and talent to his new hometown, chairing the City of Franklin’s Historic Zoning Commission and serving on the board of Franklin Tomorrow, the City’s Sustainability Commission, and other groups. In 2005, he founded Studio 8 and built a team of talented professionals engaged in imaginative and intentional design. Matt and his wife share the custom home he designed with their Boykin Spaniel – who visit the office on occasion – and enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

Matt currently serves on ULI’s Urban Plan Committee.
