The owners purchased a home on their dream property in the Forest Hills area of Nashville. While the existing colonial style home was in great condition, it didn’t fully meet the needs of the client. Studio Eight Design was engaged to re-imagine the home and make it the living space they have always wanted.
The existing home was completely reconfigured in order to accommodate a new entry stair that connects the main level to the existing basement space. On the main level, a large chef’s kitchen opens up to the family room and breakfast area. An airy screen porch was added off the family room to take advantage of the sweeping views of the back yard below. The new master suite is a private enclave that includes a library for the owner’s book collection.
The wine cellar is the main feature of the lower level, housing over 2,000 bottles of wine. Beyond the wine room is a large billiards room that connects the home to bedrooms and a state-of-the-art media room.
While the front of the home still pays tribute to the original design, the back is now the main hub of the house. With an expansive deck overlooking a historic barn, the home is truly a retreat.
The design of this home was an exercise in customization. The client took an active role in the design of the space to ensure that the finished product would meet their needs perfectly.
