This 1990’s house was renovated to accommodate a game and home theater room for the family’s college-age children. Re-purposing the original attic, the space now hosts a shuffle board table, a kitchenette, and a home theater. With only one existing dormer window, natural light was introduced into the space using solar light tubes. The attic floor structure was re-engineered to allow for the new live load. A wood paneled arched opening and stairs were added to make the transition from the existing bonus room to the newly renovated attic seamless. The new space functions as a multi-purpose gathering space for friends and family.
