KINNARD, CLAYTON, AND BEVERIDGE

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

The Woodlawn Mansion, located at 127 Woodmont Boulevard, is one of Nashville’s historic treasures and the home to the law offices of Kinnard, Clayton, and Beveridge.  The client came to Studio Eight Design in 2013 with a need to add on to the historic structure for his growing firm.

The main challenge with the design was the zoning limitation of 650 square feet for any additional square footage.  The programmatic needs of the addition far exceeded the allowable square footage.   Studio Eight Design addressed the challenge with a partial renovation of the existing main floor in order to make more efficient use of the existing space along with the addition to the rear of the building.

The addition speaks to the history of the building, adding a structure similar to the wing once removed from the original plantation home.  The renovation and addition incorporate current amenities expected within offices of today while being respectful to the history of the Woodlawn Mansion.
