Franklin preparing for construction of new City Hall project

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Over the last few weeks, several city operations and employees have temporarily moved to different parts of Franklin ahead of the demolition of the existing City Hall building in the spring.

“The building we’re in now has lived well past its useful life,” said Franklin City Administrator Eric Stuckey. “[The new City Hall] will be a great place to be a hub for activity for the community in the heart of our community, which is our downtown square.”

“We’ll have much more modern office space; we’ll have departments that work together right next to each other so they can collaborate and better serve the community; lots of great public space in terms of meeting rooms and conference rooms where we can bring the community in to work on community projects, get their input, engage in public meetings, and also just be a resource to bring people together,” Stuckey told News 2.

Stuckey said the new space will also have a downtown park on the Church Street end of the City Hall complex, a retail area along 3rd Avenue, and a parking structure underneath the building to add more public parking spaces.
