FREEHOLD – LEGACY AMENITY BUILDING

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA

Located outside the Raleigh/Durham area in North Carolina, the Legacy development offers residents a tranquil retreat from the hectic pace of the outside world. The development is in Chatham County just minutes away from Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, and Jordan Lake, North Carolina.

Freehold Capital Management came to Studio Eight Design in 2014 for the design of the amenity building. Freehold and the residents of Legacy wanted a building that provided a physical and visual connection to the beautiful natural surroundings. Working closely with Hodgson & Douglas, a local landscape firm, Studio Eight developed a design that successfully addressed this primary goal for the building.

The functions of the amenity building are housed within separate smaller structures connected by outdoor covered walk ways. The entrance into the amenity building is an outdoor pavilion, providing the residents a place to meet before going to the pool, fitness center, clubhouse, tennis courts, or the playground. The covered porch with an outdoor kitchen is connected to the community room and adjacent to the pool, providing great views of the surrounding golf course, and a place for the residents to entertain large groups. The materials of the building blend well with the natural surroundings incorporating earth tone colors, cedar trellis elements and exposed trusses, and natural stone walls and outdoor fireplace.

Construction was competed in 2017 in time for residents to enjoy warm weather around the pool and in front of the outdoor fireplace.
