108 FOURTH AVENUE

FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE

Located just off Main Street in downtown Franklin, Cork and Cow had limited visibility to pedestrian traffic along 4th Avenue.  The existing brick exterior only had one entrance door and no windows along Fourth Avenue, disconnecting the interior from the street and blocking access to natural light.  The project consisted of the addition of a series of windows which introduced natural light on the interior and gave passing pedestrians a view into the space.  A mezzanine was cut back to allow the continuation of the double height space and give the entry a visual connection to the new windows.  Exterior renovations required extensive coordination with the City’s historic zoning commission to reflect the character and scale of the historic structure.
